Name: Barathelis / Gu-Rugbram
Size: medium
Main Locations: Darabenderiel, the citidel of Swords, the hidden city of the Tar’Ladhiin. The Bakul salt mines, ruled by the orc hordes. Orubelis, the ancient capital of Barathelis is ruled by the Gnolls.
Main Characters: Javannon, leader of the Tar´Ladhiin. Gu-Karish, the massive Orc Warchief. Yukipess, the Shaman lord of the Gnolls.
Military power: Strong/Strong/Medium. Both the Orc and Gnolls chiefs wield sizable armies. The swordmasters of Darabenderiel though much fewer than than their enemies are unmatched in Sonduil in their skill with a blade.
Political standing: Not alligned with any side. Gu-Karish and Yukipess have shown no interested in reallining themselves again with their draki masters, on the other hand, if Javannon could regain control of his country he would doubtless be a valuable ally to those opposed to the Serpent King.
Characteristics/History: During the ages before the arrival of Aramroth the endless Barathelis was fabled Lothruins litle syster state. While the elves of Lothruin where schoolars and priests the elves of Barathelis where famed swordsmen and songmakers. Traditionaly the two kingdoms where ruled by the two eldest children of the ancient Tar´Ladhiin royal bloodline, often sparking a race between the current rules of each kingdom to produce eihrs (?) to the two kingdoms. In -201 COA when the king of Barathelis, Girathil the brave, died the people of Barathelis refused to aknowledge Forfimir first son of King Celanduil of Lothruin as their new king sparking great conflict between the two nations which was still going when Aramroth set out to conqure Sonduil in 6 COA. As Aramroth marched on Lothruin the armies of Barathelis refused to come to the aid of King Celanduil thinking that the massive armies of Lothruin would surely triuphm but would be weekend enough that King Celanduil would have to give up his sons claim for the throne of Barathelis. They where wrong, and the forces of Lothruin where destroyed in what was the bloodiest battle of Aramroths war of conquest. A few years later Aramroth came to conqure Barathelis his forces now enforced by armies from his new vassal states, the war was a short one and after only 2 years Barathelis had fallen.
During the time of the united Aram empire, much of the great forests of Barathelis where cut down and a part of the country was handed over to the Orc and Goblin hordes now under Aramroths rule, when the freedom war started the elves of Barathelis, lead by SelmaÃr the last of the ancient royal line, fought beside Adokas Lionshields armies and as a retripution Menethyril´s last act as ruler of the united Aram Empire was to send his remaining Orc and Gnoll armies to wipe out the remains of Barathelis, even as the united armies of Adokas approached the Imperial city. But the people of Barathelis where tougher than Menethyrilil could know and where able to escape into what remained of their great forests. Today Barathelis, or Gu-Rugbram as the Gnolls and Orcs call it, is being fought over by the Gnolls, Orcs and Song elves, each side feriousicly fighting for every inch.
